Where do you come from/ Wo kommt ihr her

    Hi, sometimes it is a little bit hard to write the plant descriptions. I talk about "here" and mean Europe or sometimes even only Germany. And confused this way users from the other site of the world. Or i use a common name from england and a user from USA or so would know the plant, but with another name ect. It would be nice if you tell me, where did you come from and as bonus what language do you speak. (The country is enough, you don't have to tell the cities ;))

    Hallo, manchmal ist es ziemlich schwer, die Pflanzenbeschreibungen zu verfassen. Ich rede von "hier" und meine damit Europa oder manchmal sogar nur Deutschland. Das sorgt für Verwirrung bei den Nutzern auf der anderen Seite der Welt (und manchmal auch bei denen, die "nur" am anderen Ende von Deutschland wohnen, wenn ich zB einen Namen für eine Pflanze nutze der in der einen Ecke Deutschlands geläufig ist, in der anderen aber völlig unbekannt). Es wäre nett, wenn ihr mir erzählen könntet wo ihr herkommt und vielleicht zusätzlich auch noch, welche Sprache ihr sprecht. (Es reicht die Angabe des Landes, die Stadt ist wirklich zweitrangig ;))

    I'm sorry to say that I don't speak German. I use a translator, so I'm sorry if it is inaccurate./Es tut mir leid zu sagen, dass ich kein Deutsch spreche. Ich benutze einen Übersetzer, so tut mir leid, wenn es ungenau ist.

    I'm from Poland. I speak English and can read/understand German (I used to speak German as well, but now it's terribly rusty and it takes a lot of effort to write a decent sentence). That's why I mostly write in English.

    I'm from Czech republic. I "play" Flowergame in English, which (I think) I speak fairly well (although I couldn't say whether British or American or neither). I understand and write some German, but definitely not enough to get by without a dictionary or translator.

    Ich komme aus der Tschechischen Republik. Ich "spiele" Flowergame in Englisch, die (ich glaube) ich ziemlich gut spreche (obwohl ich nicht sagen konnte, ob britische oder amerikanische oder keine von beiden). Ich verstehe und schreibe etwas Deutsch, aber definitiv nicht genug, um ohne ein Wörterbuch oder Übersetzer zu tun.

    Nephele hat die glückliche Hand, immer wieder in recht gut bekannten Pflanzenbereichen Spezies zu wählen, die halt doch nicht so alltags-geläufig und für den Kenner und Liebhaber richtige Kleinode sind. Die Namen sind für Wikipedia und google gute Bekannte. Nisha, deine Beschreibungen finde ich zwanglos plaudernd, du gehst dann wirklich quasi auf die Pirsch und berichtest von den Eigenheiten, den Besonderheiten der Spezies. Es liest sich anschaulich und lebendig, macht richtig Laune. Nur Flowergame ist so, das besondere unter den Gartenspielen... Na ja, ich denke, manchmal darf man das ruhig sagen.

    Nun, hier ist wohl Deutschland, südlich von Frankfurt, an der Neckarspitze :P . Pflanzensprachliche Besonderheiten sind mir zumindest nicht bewusst.

    Nephele has the lucky hand to choose again and again in areas well known plant species, but just are not as common and everyday, for the connoisseurs and lovers of real gems. The names are good for Wikipedia and google acquaintances. Nisha, I find your descriptions casually chatting, then you go on a safari and really almost correct test of the peculiarities, the characteristics of the species. It reads clearly and giver of life, good mood. Flower Game is just so special in the garden playing ... Well, I think sometimes it is okay to say calmly.

    Well, here is probably Germany, south of Frankfurt, on the Neckar peak :P. Plant linguistical features are not me, at least consciously.

    Ich komme aus der Schweiz und spreche schwiizerdütsch, deutsch kann ich auch ein bisschen hihi. Mein Englisch ist - nach über einem Jahr Auslandsaufenthalt vor zwei Jahrzehnten - ein bisschen eingerostet aber sicher auch nicht übel.

    I come from Switzerland and speak swiss, which is close to german, so I speak german very well. My english is - after more than a year living abroad, two decades ago - a bit rusty but certaninly not bad.

    My grandmother was German, so I can sing a couple German songs and recite a poem (if you excuse my terrible accent :whistling: ).

    Neben englisch und deutsch kann ich auch noch ein bisschen ungarisch. Zum Reden bin ich aber meistens zu schüchtern....

    Since a few years I´m quite active on English forums, so my writing skills are not that bad, my pronunciation still sucks though. :whistling:
    Besides Engish and German I also learn Hungarian, but most of the time I´m too shy to speak...

    I come from America, more specifically, California. I must admit that I rather dislike it on the coast. The beach is nice, but I love forests and grasslands, as well as having lots of space. It's very crowded here, and it's hard to find somewhere to be alone. When I move away from home, I plan to go to the country...maybe Colorado or the mountains in Wyoming.
    I speak English, and I am attempting to learn German, but I'm not doing very well. So far, I can say "I am a girl," "I am a cat," "I am named SnowPlow," "I am twenty-five(/most other numbers above nineteen),"and "The cat is black." Obviously, those are not the most useful things to be able to say. To be honest, I'm not even sure if I have the syntax of the German language right - I just know the words to those sentences. I'm not very good at the pronunciations, but I can spell the words that I know. (Which aren't very many)

It' s drängte sehr hier und it' s stark, zum irgendwo zu finden, um allein zu sein. Wenn ich weg von Haus umziehe, plane ich, zum Land… Kolorado oder zu den Bergen in Wyoming möglicherweise zu gehen. Ich spreche Englisch und ich versuche, Deutsches, aber I' zu erlernen; m, das nicht sehr gut tut. Bis jetzt kann ich " sagen; Ich bin ein Mädchen, " " Ich bin eine Katze, " " Ich genannt SnowPlow, " " Ich bin fünfundzwanzig (/most andere Zahlen über neunzehn), " und " Die Katze ist black." Offensichtlich sind die nicht die nützlichsten Sachen, zum in der Lage zu sein zu sagen. Zu ehrlich sein, I' m nicht sogar sure, wenn ich die Syntax des deutsche Sprachrechtes - ich gerade habe, kennen die Wörter zu jenen Sätzen. I' m nicht sehr gut an den Aussprachen, aber ich können die Wörter buchstabieren, die ich weiß. (Das aren' t sehr viele)

    Ich komme aus Germering (direkt neben München) also naher der schönsten Stadt Deutschlands. Achja und ich mag nach Vancouver auswandern also sollten Kanadier hier sein und einen Job als entwickler haben immer her damit :D

    I am from the United States, and more specifically, North Carolina, where we have the beach or coast at one end and mountains at the other. I live sort of in the middle and love to go both directions. ^^ I don't speak any other languages, something I always wanted to but never learned. :pinch: I am so grateful for all you bilingual people! :thumbup:

    fkrauthan - what programming languages do you develop in? (I don't have a job. I'm just curious.)

    I am from the US, specifically Florida. I speak English, and am also conversant in French :) I've always wanted to learn German, but they didn't have it at the school I graduated from. Perhaps I will try to take a class from it this year, though, now that I am in university :)

    Ich komme aus Deutschland, genauer aus Bayern/Unterfranken. Ich spreche daher Deutsch, kann aber auch Englisch. Mein Englisch ist leider etwas eingerostet da ich selten die Gelegenheit habe es zu nutzen. Meist schreibe ich wie ich es mir denke und hoffe dass es so passt. :)

    I come from Russia and I speak Russian fluently but I can't write and I can bearly read in Russian so I wouldn't count it much of a bonus xD
    English has become my first language, so don't bother with the russian!

    My heritage is the northern east of Germany, but i was glad when i could move away. Now i'm living in a town between Kassel and Frankfurt (Main). Besides German, i learned in school english (from 3rd grade until 11th), French (7th grade until 11th) and Spanish (11th until 13th). I really disliked English at school, and Bruce Dickinson, Steve Harris, James Hetfield and a penpal from Chicago prolly taught me more English than any of my teachers each in a year. But after school, i kept on training by reading english novels and stuff for university, by some games and by trying to watch DVDs in english (but english subtitled,too), and still by music - i'm very interested in the lyrics of my favourite songs.

    I've gotta admit, i that i do poor if i have to understand spoken language. That problem occurs even in German (if peoople dont pronounce exactly, speak too fast, having an awful slang or if i'm too tired or multiple of these options), but of corse, it's worst in French and Spanish. Also, i already forgot most of french and spanish, although i really like French and i'd love to visit France. Oh, and i've got the "black thumb", so, although my mom and my (future) mother-in-law are talented women of the garden, the only thing my plants will do is dying. :(


    Ich bin ein gebürtiges Nordlicht, aber habe nie bereut, nach Hessen gezogen zu sein. Abgesehen von Deutsch spreche ich auch noch Englisch (9 Jahre), Fanrzösisch (5 Jahre) und Spanisch (3 Jahre). In der Schule war Englisch nicht gerade mein Lieblingsfach, und eine CD von Iron Maiden oder Metallica haben mir wahrscheinlich mehr beigebracht als meine jeweiligen Lehrer in einem gesamten Schuljahr. Trotzdem habe ich nach dem Abi weitergeübt durch Romane und Fachliteratur, einige Spiele und DVDs als "OmU"s (Original mit [englischen] Untertiteln), und immer noch Musik.

    Ich muß aber zugegeben, daß mir das Verstehen gesprochener Sprache manchmal Probleme bereitet. Manchmal selbst auf Deutsch (an dieser Stelle Grüße an die alpinen Fraktionen), aber am schlimmsten sind Französisch und Spanisch. Außerdem hab ich das meiste ohnehin schon wieder vergessen, obwohl ich eigentlich Französisch mag (ja, die Sprache!) und sehr gern mal nach Frankreich reisen würde. Und ich hab den "Schwarzen Daumen", auch wenn sowohl meine Mutter als auch meine Schwiegermama in spe begnadete Gärtnerinnen sind.
