Maybe so, Shelybear doesn´t have enough (15) grown potato plants, but agajol had exactly 15 potatoe plants in her greenhouse after she took shelybears gift....

I need 4 more potatoes to get to 15.... *get´s more tubers* ^^

Hmm...I have no idea on how it works exactly. Since Exterminans mentioned that the 4th variant was a secret variant, I was assuming that we couldn't obtain it by usual methods (breeding and picking wild seeds). So I was thinking of something else, and got inspired by valentine's gifting. So then I tried on my receipt thread and we all saw the result - it turned into cooked potato. I wasn't here all the time and the when I saw it again, it already turned into that variant... And I didn't know that it will change back, like agajol said.

@agajol Did you mean that, when the potato was at yours, it didn't show as the cooked variant?

EDIT: Yes, what idril said sounds really reasonable as well.

The potato was in the changed 'cooked' version when I took it. Then it changed back for the normal one in my garden, and when I gave it back it changed back to the 'cooked' version. But still I have it in my compendium...

    That's weird.

But for the compendium, yes, once you have 'seen' one plant, it remains there ever since. So borrowing plants from others to 'lighten' the question marks in compendium is actually possible.

When you took it from the Wild Garden it was the "cooked" version or when you took it as a gift plant it turned?

I don't know. It was posted as purple and then changed. Afterwards I took it for a moment to my garden, when it changed to the normal version ;)

So any wild garden spud can change to the cooked one once it flowers?

the compendium... do players who have not grabbed the plant that was passed around still have a question mark if they have all three colors?
I have the three colors and no question mark, but I do not show a cooked potato in my compendium either. I'm confused.

No. If you haven't 'seen' a cooked potato ever, there will not be a question mark in your compendium, either.

Well I'm going to close this thread, there is the 3 varieties from breeding and the Compendium does not have a ?
What we have also found out there is a baked potato variety that is a secret and quessing it is a normal one got through trading, but the facts are not all in, this ? does not show in the Compendium but the baked potato does.
