Well, I took a class to do stuff like that, but I wasn't very good at it. (I'm not artistic at all.) I was good at the technical end of things, just not at being artistic. So, no.
Other than the fact that I simply wouldn't have MADE most of the changes, because I thought she was already pretty!

I'm concerned that since both Amir and Corvino have grown silent so suddenly that something might have happened to them. Corvino's silence doesn't seem to be in character. He (she?) always seemed so nice, and so friendly.
Maybe I shouldn't say anything, because I don't want to borrow trouble, but I've had friends disappear who I've known online before, and several times it was because something had happened to them.

I think another part of the problem is that the thread drops low in the forum, and it's not as quick to see. I don't always think about it; when I do, I click on plants until I can't, but I'm no longer thinking about it every day, or even every few days anymore. I think I might go to that thread once every few weeks or so, which isn't going to do much good.
There are also probably more abandoned gardens than there used to be. At first there were only a few, but I think we get more players who try the game for a few days and then forget about it, than we used to.
It should always be a voluntary thing, but if the plants don't end up growing, oh well. They're only virtual after all. "No real plants were hurt in the making of this picture!"

You sent me an email rather than a PM, BE. I know - it's confusing! You need to select the last option for the person that says "Start a conversation" in order to send a PM.
But, to let you know, to include a gift link in your post, it's easier than it seems. Open the flower profile up, then select the option that says "gift". Then look at the URLs that get listed below. One of them says "BB Code for Forums". Select the entire text in that box, and then paste it all directly into the post you're making. It includes BOTH the gift link AND the image link in the one string. Aren't the admins clever to do it that way? Makes it easier on us!
It wasn't always that way, IIRC. I think you used to have to copy/paste from two different URLs for the image and the gift link, and you had to make sure to embed one inside the other. This is much easier!

VenusFae, did you get my private message? I sent you a few flowers.

Eye color change doesn't bother me TOO much; that can be changed easily with contacts. When I was a teenager I wore hard contacts, and they were tinted so I wouldn't lose them. They changed my eye color just slightly, making them a bit brighter, and people always commented on the color. Clear contacts (at least at that time - not sure about now since I don't wear them anymore) weren't practical, because if one popped out you'd never be able to find it.
Many actresses and models use contacts to change their eye color when the public demands a certain look, or even when a part requires a certain eye color. So I still consider that change cosmetic, even though I would be pretty pissed off if a beauty consultant recommended to someone to change theirs to a different color.
But as I said, the cosmetic changes didn't bother me as much as the structural changes, because those were basically telling her she wasn't good enough as she was. Frankly, I thought she was a very pretty girl who only needed a little bit of makeup for enhancement, and that was it. The artists who only made minor cosmetic changes - and there were a couple of those - I think were the most honest.

Removing or toning down the eye pouches is common, and even expected. I took a class in Photo Shop, and that was one thing the professor informed us of. I didn't have a problem with that, just the ones who changed what could not be naturally changed in her face through the use of cosmetics in some manner.
Yes, the severe coloration changes bothered me a little, but those effects could even be gotten from a photographic filter, so I don't feel that disturbed about them, either. It was only the changes made that made structural changes to her face that bothered me. I didn't notice the ear clipping; I'll have to take a look at those pictures again.
Edit: I noticed on this go-around that one of her ears (her left ear; the one that is on our right as we view it) sticks out a little bit with an odd fold in the middle. Three of the artists removed that odd fold, and several others covered it up in some manner. (Two with added hair, and one with the hood thing.) I didn't notice any clipping or changes to her RIGHT ear, which would be the ear on our left as we view it. I'm not sure whether you meant the ear on our right, or hers. To me that wasn't initially noticeable, but I agree, I don't like that they did it.
Still, if they were professionals, and had been hired by an agency that does PR for models or actors, they would have been expected to make similar changes. Unfortunately, the public expects famous people to be physically "perfect" (I put that in quotes because not everyone's ideal is identical), and that expectation has unfortunately set up what I think are some terrible effects in our culture.

I think the only one I didn't like was the one in the U.S. where they changed her eyes completely. (Made them slanted, when hers aren't.) Most of the changes could be achieved by the original person with makeup, but that was making structural changes. It was like saying she wasn't good enough the way she was.
The Argentina one didn't bother me, because the changes were simple makeup effects. Anyone who knows how to put on makeup knows how to make those changes without needing PhotoShop.
Oh, and the other one from the U.S. also bothered me because they scrunched her face to make it shorter. That also was saying she wasn't good enough the way she was.

Hello, VenusFae, and welcome! Have you been playing the game long and just joined the forum, or are you new to the game as well?
-
The one with the lower number always appears on the left side.
That's good to know! I had always assumed it was either the one who "initiated" the breeding or the one who didn't that was on the left, but didn't pay too much attention. It's good to know I was off on that!

I thought Marvels couldn't breed at all when the event isn't running. Guess I was wrong.

Edit: Just found one of my dropped seeds, and yes, it's a fern, not a Marvel. Guess the event is over. But it was fun while it lasted!
-
Just dropped 6 more bred seeds into the wild for people, all with parentless parents. I would have bred more, but I don't have any more male ferns that are currently available for breeding.
-
Shhhhh! We don't want to remind them!

-
Mia, you had 22 Male ferns to breed with the Marvel ferns?!
I just dropped 7 and I would have dropped more if I had had more Male ferns!
Hope someone gets them and gets the color they are looking for from them too!
Yes, I've been stocking up on them.
The problem is that I miscalculated; I forgot to calculate in for the NEW Marvel ferns I would get this year, so I didn't have quite enough male ferns to breed all of my Marvels on this last run. Otherwise I would have dropped more into the garden for people to get.
I intend to stock up more male ferns over the coming year, although I'll probably be giving away some of my Marvels to newcomers in my welcome messages so I won't need to add TOO many more.

I think Shelybear's point is that she'd like to decorate the gardens with the new holiday decorations BEFORE the holiday starts. There are a lot of people who like to do that. (It helps them get into the mood of the holiday.) I do that in real life, usually a couple of weeks before Christmas, for instance, but that's because my birthday is a week before Christmas and I like having the house decorated for it.

So I can see her point, but I think that for the most part, we have to view the items as "gifts" for the holiday; they are decorations, but as a gift from the admins, it's more appropriate for them to be given ON the holiday, not before.
Most of the items aren't really holiday-like anyway. The gifts for the midsummer event, for instance (lemon tree and fountain statue) are appropriate for all year round. And some people (like me) like to leave some of the decorations up all year, just because they're pretty.

-
I don't know - I had wondered the same thing last year but never asked.

The male ferns can breed with one another, both during this event and during the rest of the year. I don't think it means that they are really "male", but I don't know what it actually does mean.
-
maybe you should change your username to "georgeous." heh heh.
anyways, i never had that problem, but maybe that's because i'm chinese? i recognized the "xu." plus the zodiac avatar.
No, I'm not Chinese, and I realized his name was George Xu right away. Only a few weeks ago I realized that it also looked like the word "gorgeous" but that wasn't something I noticed when I first saw his name. -
I just checked, and it looks like my Marvel Ferns are breedable again. So I'm about to drop a bunch of bred seeds into the garden. (Assuming I have enough male ferns for all of them!)
Edit: Just dropped 22 seeds to the garden - 19 have parentless parents, and 3 have grandparents.
Edit 2: My seedlings just grew up, so I dropped their offspring into the garden as well. All parentless parents.

LadyNova: Even though you can't breed your own, you might be able to snag some of mine from the garden if you have an empty pot.
