I hope so! I hope we all have time for at least two more rounds of seeds.

At our age, I figure less than a year makes almost no difference. (I never give out any information about my birthdate because I'm paranoid about identity theft. Same reason I'm not on Facebook, Twitter, or any of those other social networking sites.)
Heck, even a few years makes pretty much no difference. Yet I remember as a teenager, even one or two years was HUGE! How different things are when you have more years on you.

You're doing well - you have eight now! That gives you a pretty good shot at getting at least most of the non-bred-only variants, although no guarantees.
My recommendation, btw, is not to give away your extras until you've been able to breed all of the bred-only variants that you want. Since each individual plant has a 7 day breeding cycle, and seeds grow to sprouts in 4 days, if you wanted to, for instance, have 4 bred seeds constantly (and this is something you might want to do next year), you would need 16 plants to work with.

And the Spring Event goes till when?
That's hard to say. Exterminans told us a couple of months ago that there IS a holiday schedule, but it has never been kept. So... at this point your guess is almost as good as anyone else's.
These events usually last between 2-4 weeks. The bigger holidays (Halloween, Christmas), generally last a month. Smaller events are usually shorter. But this event has so many variants, it might just last a bit longer. (I hope so, for some of the newer members!)

It shouldn't be over - we haven't even had one set grow up yet. Sometimes you have to wait a bit, 15 minutes or so, and another set will drop. At other times, I think they might have to make a manual drop or something.
They don't have five minute drops like DC. I'm not sure the timing. Also, sometimes it's just hard to find the seeds because there can be so many of other plants in there.

More than a few months older if you're 50 and I am 51.
No, you just turned 51. I will turn 51 in about six months. Not a full year older, and therefore only a few months older than I am.Remember, "a few" isn't a particular number. It simply means more than one or two, and less than, say, a dozen. (Although it depends upon what you're talking about. "A few stars" could be a hundred or so, since there are billions in the galaxy, for instance.)
Since it is less than a year, it is a few months.

My avatar is Dean from the show Supernatural which is a show I just love to watch. As for my age I turned 51 this past March *gasps* Yep there is a oldtimer in the bunch here.
Then you're only a few months older than I am, as I turned 50 a few months ago.

Well, my avatar is a picture of my cats when they were still kittens. I was surprised when I saw LN's, and it was so similar to mine; neither of us had noticed before. (I think we set our avatars to those at about the same time.)
Also, the "black" cat in my avatar is a tortoiseshell ragamuffin, not really black at all.
I hadn't guessed that Jedi was female either. Actually, I really had no idea, although I think subconsciously the avatar was making me think she was male as well.

Oh, well, now that I know that, that will be a challenge for me to collect and drop the same seed as many times as I can!
I will have to wait until we are out of event before trying it though!
Be easiest to do that with a bred seed - you'll be able to use the link the parent has to the seed. That's an interesting experiment - sounds fun! Hopefully you're the one who will end up with the seed in the end.

Remember, though, that we can only abandon a seed three times a day. So it may take several days to get a long "lineage" that way.

We've always had the Valentine's "gift a plant, get a post from the post pixie" part. But in previous years (not this year or I think last year) there was an additional part to the event where a little pixie girl is sad, and asks for your help. At the end she gives you a gift. Not a seed, as I recall, but at least one furniture item for your WG. I DON'T think we had that part of the event the first year or two, I think it was an addition they made later.
This past Christmas - and possibly the Christmas before, I don't remember - we didn't have the Christmas Market, either. That was rather fun - a hunt and click game to solve a riddle, and you got at least one prize afterwards. My recollection is that the first year of the Market was when we got our original two wreath seeds, because originally those could NOT be gotten from the garden. For several years, we each had exactly two of those, until later they made it so those seeds dropped in the garden.
I think we only had the Christmas Market for two years, and then it just never came back again, and I don't think we had a Christmas Market for the first year or two of the game. The second year of the CM we didn't get wreath seeds, we got furniture for our WG instead. At least, that's what I recall. It's possible we only had the little pixie girl for two years as well. I don't know what's involved in having those events up, but maybe it's more complex to start those up or something.
-
They didn't turn on the Christmas Market this past year, which is why no one would have gotten the table or the big Christmas tree for your Winter Garden.
Did they turn on the Valentine's event (where you give the little fairy girl her letter) this past February? I don't remember doing that this year. But that's probably where we got the table from that holiday in previous years.
I don't know if Exterminans turns on that part of the event, or if it is one of the other admins. He remembered to turn on the drops, but there may be more involved in turning on the other part of the holiday events.

A few from me:
All of mine are bred from purples. 'Cuz it's my favorite color.
When I look at their children, I see that most of the children they've already produced have been blues, reds, and other non-bred-only variants, but there have also been bred-only variants with a couple. Glancing it over it seems spread out pretty evenly among all the variants, so I don't think one set of parents is more likely to produce bred-only variants than another. It's not like Mendellian genetics here; it's virtual, so it's pure luck.
Edit: Btw, LN, I plan to only breed these throughout the event. I have plenty of the other variants, but only one each of the pink and green. So you'll be getting my seed information throughout, at least.

-
I didn't remember that. It has been a very long time for me.
They may not have turned on that part of the event yet. Maybe we just need to remind Exterminans?

-
I don't recall that we got the stove from sacrificing a plant in the past. Was that the way it worked?
In prior years to last year, we had to do the "trash" action (not the "abandon" action) on a witch mushroom we already owned, but my recollection is that the reward for that was just a seed of whatever the latest variant was. Last year they removed that particular part of the event, because it distressed so many of us to trash one of our plants.
At least for getting a seed; I really don't remember how we got each of our furniture items.
-
Might I make a suggestion, Shelybear? Since LN is going to be doing the Witch Mushrooms in her bred-only experiments, why don't you make your next experiment also be Witch Mushrooms? That way we can participate in both - any bred seeds we do we can post on LN's thread, and any wild seeds we take we can post on this thread. That is, if you want verification that the green and pink are bred-only. (Although I think one of the admins actually came out and told us on these, a few years back.)
Since these are holiday plants, we would definitely want to use new seeds only. I don't think we get post pixie seeds anymore (no one much liked how we had to get them in the past - we had to sacrifice a current witch mushroom in order to get the post pixie seed), but who knows? In case we do, we need to be aware which seeds we get from the garden itself, and which seeds we get from the post pixie.
-
One thing to note about this - it will take considerably more than 50 to get a good sampling. So hopefully we'll get many people to help out with this particular experiment, so we'll have a large enough sampling to be statistically significant.

Hm... that's a good point. I think Shely had originally been thinking of doing this for one of the holiday plants, then realized it was too late for that. That's probably why the original specification.
That said, if a variant ever changed from wild to bred-only, we could have a problem. I don't think that has ever happened, though. A few times a bred-only variant has come out for an older flower, but it's always been a new variant, never a change to a pre-existing variant.
We COULD go with the idea that for holiday plants they MUST be new plants, that way we can be sure they're from the garden. For non-holiday, it's up to Shely to decide what she'd prefer to do.
