Re C.S.Lewis and religion:
People nowadays are not as religious as they were when the books were written. Some views that were popular 50 years ago, can be confusing and offending now and are probably outdated today. An example of my own experiance would be the Karl May books and movies. I loved them when I was a kid, but I couldn´t read/watch them today anymore.

Yes, he wrote some books when the movies came out. He also did some StarWars stuff (haven´t read those yet...)

Get better soon!

Don't know who moved the thread, I assume it was exterminans. Thank you!

You are welcome.

I´m a bit behind with the Siedler games. I still have to finish Siedler 4 (I KNOW it´s OLD, still good though). But I don´t play at a regular basis. I´m also not playing the MMORPG. I loved Siedler 3, always played with the Amazons, but it doesn´t work on my new laptop anymore.

Oh, yeah, Settlers of Catan is a great game. I have the card game, but unfortunately hardly anyone to play with me (I have to ask my cousin for a games evening again).

There are so many good books I want/need to read sometime that I woudn´t know where to start...

The only books I read of Alan Dean Foster so far where the Transformers books. And Dinotopia. I loved Dinotopia. I had teh book when I was younger, but I borrowed it to a school colleague and never got it back.

No, you need to know the garden number.

I heard of the Diskworld books, but never read them. I used to read a lot when I was younger, but sadly now I hardly have time. I read comics, though, from time to time.

DSA is short for "Das schwarze Auge" (the black eye). It´s one of the most popular German RPGs. Don´t know if it´s available in English. We´ll have to ask Corvino for that.

Yes, online games.
I´m on DragonCave, Magistream, Tale of Dragons, Valley of Unicorns and Flowergame of course.
I was on DragonAdopters, too, but lost interest long before it was shut down a few months ago.

Lol, I play Spider Solitaire, too, sometimes, mostly Solitaire, though. And Mahjongg, I LOVE Mahjongg.

Other pc games I play are "Die Siedler" (The Settlers) and "Spellforce". Both are strategy games, the later combines fantasy RPG, too. Those are actually the only pc games I play and currently own.
I´m no fan of first-person-shooter-games, as I don´t like guns.

Posting a welcome message on ones's wall is a good idea. I would also like an introduction thread, maybe pinned on top somewhere, so every new member can see it easily and say hello.
Sending flowers to forum newbies is nice as long as it´s not too compulsory. I do not always have spare flowers to gift and I have a specific amount I collect of each flower.

Never heard of the Kane-series. I have to look into it.

I have to admit, I lack quite some knowledge about older (high) fantasy-literature. Never read the "Dragon Riders of Pern" for example, but I intend to sometime. I guess, because I wasn´t even born when those came out/were popular.
I was only introduced to Tokien's books through the movies. I heard about LotR before but I never took notice until after I´ve seen the movies. But now, I like the books more than the movies.

But I´m totally uninterested in Harry Potter or The Hunger Games...

I made myself a kind of link template, where I only have to insert the plant's number. Then I copy and paste that template in a word document as often as I need it and just copy and paste the plants's numbers. With this I never have problems posting codes.
Also, I can prepare new links when I have time, save the file on my computer and post later.

Here is my template :

Also continued from this thread.

Are there any other sci-fi-fans here? Do you like Stargate or Star Wars or are you a Trekkie? Do you prefer other shows, movies, books? What do you like about your sci-fi?

I mainly grew up with Stargate. I saw every episode and movie, expect Stargate Universe (I tried, but I couldn´t watch that show ). My favourite characters in SG-1 are Daniel Jackson (he is one of the reasons why I decided to study archaeology, I guess ), Ba'al (love his slyness in the later seasons), and also Jack O'Neil. In SGA it´s the Wraith, probably the cooles and sexiest aliens ever.

I also like Star Wars, of course, but Stargate just a tiny little bit more.

So, to split some topics from this thread let´s continue here with games.

What kind of games do you like? (Online)-RPGs, computer games, other games?

Shelybear: What kind of RP did You try?
"Forumstyle" or desktop with a group ?
@ Idril: DSA is still very much alive, though maybe not as popular as 10 years ago. Seems for most its still a beginners game, which I don't think it is. At the moment they are starting 5th edition beta. I'll probably stay with 4the edition.... too expensive buying everything new and learning new rules.
I've been playing from 1987 off and on since 1st edition. Occasionally another game but I alway ended up with DSA again *g*-

I must admit I don´t know anything about DSA, expect that there were also some books I think. How do you play it? And how has playing changed since it was started?

the only RPG I played so far, was a Wraith-centric (the white-haired aliens in Stargate Atlantis) forum-based RPG on a Stargate-forum. But it´s been dead since a year or two...

Hmm, maybe we should move this thread to General Discussions and separate some topics raised here into their own threads.

EDIT: New thread here.

EDIT2: And new Sci-fi-thread here

Maybe I´ll watch it sometime when I have some more time on my hand...

I heard about DSA. I didn´t know it was still popular....

I was wondering why this thread is in the Games section, it would better fit into General Discussions.

What else can be, is when you don´t have any plants (and decorations?) in your atrium, wintergarden or forest lake that they don´t show for visitors. I think I read that somewhere, but I´m not sure....

It is the same. I know! There is only one infamous SW Holiday Special.

Quote from MiaSkywalker

If you saw someone with lots of plants but no greenhouse, they have probably been taking from the gifting thread and not raising their own. To get the various gardens you have to raise X number of plants on your own.

As far as I know a no-greenhouse garden is not possible, because it´s the one you´ll get anyway when you sign up, no matter if you raise the plants on your own or recieve them by gifting.

All other possibilities are possible, I think...

Could people please clear out their posts again, please?

Also, when you edit your post to add new plants, could you please announce it in this thread? I just found out that Mia and true added new plants after days/weeks. And maybe you could post plant links instead of garden links. The link tru posted in her initial post is easiely overlooked under that amount of text.

Yes, there was an event where you got the forest lake first, but I can´t remember which one.
Now you have to raise a certain number of plants to get it.

The wiki has no update on the lake. Probably because no one rememberd the details.
