blobber, sometimes the drops during events in the wild garden seem a little uneven, but they really aren't. Usually waiting a few minutes (I'm not sure the time, but maybe 5 minutes or so) and you'll see some more. I don't think it's a constant stream of new seeds, I think it's more that new seeds come into the garden in groups. I think this might be normal for seeds, it's just that it's more noticeable during events.

All right - if you're going to make old trees just as likely as new trees, then why not also make burning trees available in the garden? Why have that ONE type be the only exception? If you have the ability to be able to make "exceptions" (as you obviously do), then why not make it so that 1) old trees can be gotten by breeding, and 2) new trees are gotten in the garden? Why change what you have been doing for the past several years?
And when you do the Christmas Stars, PLEASE announce what is going to happen with those. If you're also going to make all varieties of the Star available whether breeding a poinsettia with a Christmas tree, or whether breeding two Christmas Stars together, then please say so in the announcement. But if either means is going to be more or less likely to breed the new type, please ALSO say so. I, personally, like getting exactly three (or multiples of three) of any given type; I'm OCD, and to me this balances my garden out the best. Last year we got 2011 Stars by breeding poinsettias with trees, and if we wanted the 2010 Stars, we were told to breed two older Stars together. That was a good system; we knew what to expect, and if we only wanted the new type, we could plan for it. We could also breed older types and drop them in the wild for newer members to get if they wanted them, too.
Since you didn't let us know what you were planning with the Christmas trees, please at least let us know what you are planning with the Stars. That way we won't be shocked at any departure from everything you've done in the past, if you're going to do that to us again.

Click on all the jars and pots and other items in the stands (and in front of the stands), as well as all the people. Almost every item has its own image map link and has a different effect. In some of the stands, some of the animals or items are also individually clickable; just because something looks like a decoration, doesn't mean that's all it is.
Sometimes you have to click an item, then click a person, then click a different item, then click the person again. Or you have to click a string of items in a specific order for something to activate. Just try EVERYTHING one time around and see what each thing does; this will set you up so that later, when you get a hint for something, you'll have an idea what the next item to click might be.
I don't really want to say more, because too many spoilers will ruin the fun of figuring it out. Just remember that if you're doing this site from something like an iPad or Kindle, you may need to do this from a computer instead.

My 'problem' is the opposite. I want more burning trees, so I breed a seed and it turned out to be a new variant...But that's the point - bred seeds have always, in the past, been old variants; seeds from the wild have been new variants. Now they're mixing them around, so it's almost as though there's no point breeding any anymore. You have the same chance for old or new variants whether you breed the seeds or get them from the wild.
What I'm saying is that if we pick up a seed from the wild, it should have a higher chance of being a new variant, and only a SMALL chance of it being an old variant. The bred ones should only be old variants, and NOT new variants. I, too, want a burning tree, and now I think there's very little chance of that. What's going on now is a big change from the past; it's both confusing and frustrating, because we don't know the best way to get what we want..

So it's a seed in the new package? I think I'll wait to open my package until I start my next batch of seeds; I'd rather start a new set of 3 before opening it and starting a fourth.
Edit: I don't know that it's a palm, though. Someone already has a palm Christmas Tree, and the market just started today.

Yeah, well, good luck getting both of the new ones, because so far it seems that many of us are only getting old variants from the garden....

My 'problem' is the opposite. I want more burning trees, so I breed a seed and it turned out to be a new variant...See, and that's compounding the issue. It's RANDOM whether a new or old seed is bred or found in the wild. There's no logic to this. Perhaps this year we'll even find burning trees in the wild, and then why should anyone even bother doing any breeding at all? What's the point?
I really think that the new seeds should be MOSTLY new tree types, and only a FEW of them old tree types randomly interspersed in. And the bred trees should ONLY be old tree types. Otherwise we don't know what we should try to do to get the types of trees we want to get.
This is frustrating!

I think the problem is that for many of us, the ONLY trees we got in our first batch of seeds were old variants. If we want the new ones, we only have about 2 out of 6 chances of it, since you've made it so that the old variants are available in the garden. This is the first time (other than Halloween) where this has been the case, so it's frustrating. I don't WANT more of the old variants; if I did, I would simply breed for them. I want the NEW variants, but since there's such a small chance, I probably won't get them.
I don't really want more seed slots, but I DO want a higher chance of the new seeds being the new variants. And that's not what I'm seeing.
I agree, I'm finding this event more frustrating than fun because of this.

Several in Lissa's post are grown, as are a couple in Idril's (towards the bottom).
I'm so happy they made this change so now we can get these poor lonely little seeds to grow!

The Christmas Market is a quest we get. It's kind of an area we go to, where we talk to people and interact with items on the page. A more elaborate form of what we did at Halloween with the bat and the ghost.
I'm guessing it will be a slightly different quest this year than last year. It was a lot of fun.
-
I'm not seeing any either. Sometimes the site admins have to do something if the seeds stop dropping, which seems to happen during events occasionally. I think it's because people are taking them so fast that they can't repopulate as quickly.
-
Thank you. I saw that thread, but it still wasn't entirely clear. It seems that they are breed only, but then again, at Halloween this year we were able to get very old Jack-O-Lanterns from new seeds in the garden. I guess with the burning trees it's pretty firm though.
-
I've never been clear on this - are the burning Christmas trees bred only? Or can they be found in the garden, but they're just very rare? I'd like to know, so I can know if I should just take seeds from the wild, or if I should try breeding my own.

I am looking forward to what is on the way!

I love being able to see a difference in the seeds I click on now. It's sad, though, that I can't help all the seeds. Guess I'll have to do more of them tomorrow. Maybe now some of these abandoned seeds will grow up.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering about. I had wanted a chance to get an Audrey from the garden, but I had to breed one instead. I have no idea if I'm going to be able to get the new type now, and I'm rather disappointed.
It just seems that this year the event is much shorter. I could swear that last year it started at least a week before Halloween, and not right on the day like this. And that seeds were available the whole time, not just a short time. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get as many of the seeds as I did last year. (4 Jack-O Lanterns, 4 Audreys, and 3 Stumps.)
-
If the event is supposed to last until the 11th, why are there no more Audrey seeds in the garden? I searched for half an hour this morning, and never saw a single one, even though I saw several Jack-O-Lantern seeds and Snappy Tree Stump seeds. Are the seeds no longer being released?

Earlier in this thread Exterminans said that the new decoration will be for an area not yet accessed. For those who can't use it, do you have either the winter garden or the atrium available? If you do, and you've opened the package, you should see the decoration at the very bottom of your screen, under all your available flowers. If there are open decoration spots, you can place it in the garden. If you currently have no open slots, you won't be able to.
I hope that someday the mods give us more slots in the winter garden. It would be fun to put more plants and decorations in there.

Display Spoiler
I think you have to click on the bat again, after you click the ghost again. I just kept clicking both the bat and the ghost, and in a few minutes the ghost was in the web. I could be wrong, but I just kept clicking around and it worked.
