So, it's kind of interesting that DragonCave is doing something with flowers again this year. :)

The point of it doesn't seem very clear to me yet. I mean, if we give away the flowers, is there a point to trying to get as many seeds as we can? Doesn't seem to me that it would appeal to the greed in all of us. :)

blobber: I was thinking the same thing. Someone said that there is enough time for two batches, but I don't see it. Even with speed ups it takes over 3 days to germinate a batch of seeds, and we only HAVE three days. If I'm lucky, and I happen to be online when mine germinate (and I remember to check them at that exact time) then I might have a chance at a second batch. But it's iffy.

Even one more day would have been helpful. Only those of us who happened to be on when the seeds first dropped have even a slight chance of a second batch. This is really cutting things very close for people.

I hate to be negative about it, since I am glad the staff are doing anything at all, but I'm very sad. I just hope the shut off for the event doesn't happen immediately, as is sometimes the case.

You can find HOV seeds in the wild. It's the first time they've ever been available in the wild.

Idril is right - this year's breeding season is very short. I do hope the new version(s) aren't difficult to get. I also hope there is only ONE new version, or we're all going to go away frustrated.

Emeraldis, it's only enough time for ONE batch, since seeds take over 3 days to germinate, even if you speed up the process. (I've never found the speeding up process to be all that successful.) Since we only HAVE three days total, that's only one batch.

I've been looking forward to this event, and haven't picked up any new seeds in about two weeks in anticipation of it, but I didn't expect the breeding period to be so short. I'm probably going to just breed all of mine and have them drop into the wild, so if there are breed-only breeds (like perhaps the first one, with the pink clouds?) other people have a chance to get some.

First time I've ever seen HOV seeds in the garden. In the past they were always only obtainable either by breeding, or by doing something in the event. My guess would be that if we're still doing the event this year, that seed will be guaranteed to be whatever the new breed is, but who knows if otherwise they will be breed only, or obtainable from the wild.

It's kind of cool that we can get so many parentless this year. It would have been nice to have gotten a notification. Glad you posted, Idril - I've been waiting without seeds for over a week now, anticipating when this would start!

My guess it's to prevent COMPLETE hoarding. If you could keep all of your own, then none would go to the AP at all, and people who didn't have any wouldn't have a chance. This way, if your dragon lays, say, 4 eggs, you get 1, and other people get a chance at 3 of them. I think it's fair. I think the other way would cause far too much hoarding.

Hm... honestly, I'm happy with what I have now. I have an idea - why not just wait until we need to gift for Valentine's Day, and gift two (of your choice) to the Donation thread? :) You'll need to donate one anyway for that event. But as I'm not missing anything in my compendium anymore, and I can work towards whatever I want elsewhere, I really don't need any extras.

It used to be possible for someone to make a gift link in a post or message, and put the image of the flower for the link. With the changes, I can't figure out how to do that now.

I click the Link button, but there's only one space for any text, and it doesn't appear to be the same type of format to connect a link to an image. I've tried the Image button, but that's a fail, too. I can't figure out if I can put an image link in the space in the first tab, or the second, and what format it needs to be in, and which space to put the actual link into. I've tried various combinations, but nothing seems to work. You can't seem to edit a link once you have it in your message, and there's no preview option.

Does anyone know the method to do this now? I would appreciate it, because I spent about half an hour on it this morning and just made myself frustrated.

    Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I've been refreshing for about an hour and not seeing any. I finally gave up and just took some other seeds, figuring that since they're permanent, I can get some later.

I'm not sure the algorithm that is used for the garden seeds. If the drops are random, then the fact that we have so many breeds would make anything more difficult to find. If the drops are based upon what's already in the wild (that is, if there are already a bunch of a type of seed, no more of that type gets dropped), then that algorithm would be better (more difficult for the programmer to calculate, of course), and there would be a more even distribution of all types of seeds.

I do NOT think that this sort of algorithm is in place, however. I was noticing in my refreshes that there was a predominance of certain kinds of seeds throughout the garden. At one point at one refresh, I had almost an entire page of just one breed! That indicates that the drops that are made to the garden are independent of what already exists, and I believe that this can eventually become a problem. It's like in Dragon Cave when we used to have so many common egg cave blockers. It looks like that's what's beginning to happen now.

For those who want bred Christmas trees (for the burning tree or the palm), I just dropped 17 bred seeds into the wild. It looks like breeding is still available, even though I only saw a couple of wild Christmas seeds, and I think they were leftovers. (Yesterday was supposed to be the last day of breeding and finding seeds, I thought.)

I would suggest that anyone who has trees and doesn't want to breed them for themselves, to breed them for those who need them and just let the seeds go to the wild. There are people - particularly new players - who might like those seeds! :)

Same here, Idril. No new one at all. Breeding time was way too short, and they really need to make it so new variants have a higher chance than old variants. It's a bit frustrating, particularly if they make a new variant next year as well. Too many variants with a low breeding time mean it's pretty impossible even for those who have been here forever to get all variants.
