I just realized I misworded my previous statement. I should have said, the variant isn't determined UNTIL it sprouts. When you pick them, the variant isn't determined yet. That's why many long-abandoned gardens have occasionally gotten newer variants, when the rest of us have helped those seeds along.

The seed reminds me of a meat platter for some reason.

hope there's more than one variant! It's always fun to have more than one variant to work for.ariant

Here are some parentless Jacks that I've found in other gardens that were picked up this year.
Ok, I may add more later, but that's it for now. I was very careful to not include jacks that are owned by anyone who has posted on this thread. I was also careful to not include bred seeds. Please note that several may be in neglected gardens (even though the seeds were picked up this year), as at least two of the seeds are completely unwatered. Either that, or the owners don't quite understand how to care for their gardens.
I hope this helps, Shely. I can't say this is entirely a random sample, because what I did was take the plant number of one seed that I picked up this year, and then kept going up by one digit at a time. That isn't really random, but it's the best I can do.
-
Shely, since you only got 33 this year, I would suggest not deleting this information, but continuing it next year. 33 really isn't enough to be SURE that a variant won't show up parentless, just because it didn't show up this time.
I wish more people had show you their numbers, and I may scour a few numbers and see if I can't find any in other gardens from this year to post here.

Exterminans long ago told long ago that the variant of the plant isn't determined until after it sprouts.
For that reason, some of the abandoned gardens that we've helped along have occasionally gotten variants that hadn't been released when the owner of the abandoned garden originally picked those seeds, which is always a bit intriguing.

Oh, I have four more, I forgot to post them.

Which are supposed to be bred only? :3 First Halloween and I still lack a few Pumpkins I think..
I don't remember, either. Also, the year that a variant is released, sometimes it can be found in the wild, which makes it difficult to figure out by looking at older ones in our gardens.
-
Or that any new variants haven't been triggered yet. That's happened a few times, and sometimes the question mark will appear when the first few grow up.
-
I'm glad you're doing this - we need to confirm for certain that those two variants can't be grown from the wild!
-
I don't recall when the event started in previous years, but Exterminans told us some time ago that the events rarely started in time anyway.
Could we get an estimate on when it will start this year, or at least some advance warning so the newbies will be ready?
Thanks!

It's not an event plant, so you have all year to find out.

from what I see is there is a new pumpkin version, I also breed a pumpkin and jack-o-lantern and it is a pumpkin seed, so I'm guessing there is a new pumpkin
That doesn't necessarily mean that the new variant is bred-only, although it could be. Unless it's the Halloween event, breeding a pumpkin with a jack always results in a pumpkin. -
Do you mean the pumpkins?

Or the jack-o-lanterns?

As LadyNova just mentioned in this thread, it looks like they just gave us a new pumpkin variant.

I had noticed the horses, but I never check the forums, so didn't realize about the others. I like the changes - nicer details on the hollies, although I'm sure the changes to the horses and pygmies may mess up some peoples' lineage plans.
-
Was there a dragon release this month already? Usually in October he just has the Halloween release.
Or do you mean that some of the pygmies have been changed?

Welcome to Flower Game and the forums! DC is fun (love the dragons!), but this game is less stressful.

Many of us are in both places. You should join us also on the DC thread.

Are we going to do Jack-o-Lanterns during the Halloween event? We probably should - it's never been completely confirmed which variant(s) are bred-only.
But we shouldn't use already-owned Jacks, because sometimes you can get a variant the first year, and later it will become bred-only.
-
Oh my! Well, there are people who collect eggs with rude codes. Since I always use the codes in my naming scheme, I prefer not to have one that will get me banned for doing so.
I'm also totally NOT an artist so couldn't offer you what you want. But good luck! -
That's a good reminder! There is at least one jack-o-lantern that is bred-only, and I think there might be two, although we've never confirmed it. Perhaps it will soon be time to do so?
